This week, the US surprime court rule that the goverment can require people to have health insurance or pay a finalty. Tursday's dicision came on the vote of five to four and represented a major victory for president Obama.

A major part of the law is known as the indiviual mendebt, starting in 2014, most Americans will have get insurance coverage or pay a yearly panalty. Most court wathchers had expected the ruling to center on the question of whether or not the panelty was constitutional under the commerce clause. This part of the constitution gives congress the power to regulate bussiness between state. Opponents of health care law argue that the clause does not give congress the power to require people to buy a prevent. The court mojority agreed. However, chief justic Zhang Roberts used a different part of the constitution defined that the mendebt is legal. Eventhough the law never caused the panelty attacks it acts like one and the congress has the power to tax.
