(76’44)
Bastian Schweinsteiger was booked in the second half, he was lifted for a substitute by Jurgen Klinsmann just a few minutes ago. Tim Borowski was send on for some new thoughts. Well both sides have made a couple of substitutions here in the second leg. (AF)
(AF) You know for me I think it’s far from enough from Schweinsteiger, not enough from getting down , not enough for getting some crosses off on his left flank. You know he’s only 21 years old and that’s too brilliant an age for a regular place in a World Cup host team. The problem is he really has to be more productive, getting down to win ,gaining some crosses off or take a shot himself but so far in this match his play has just been not so up to par.
(Lahm)
Lahm on his side, up against Rodríguez, here’s Borowski the sub, NO 18 with 26 international caps. Back to Lahm, Podolski and swiftly to Borowski, attempting to fire at a long range, failed. Argentina got it. Crespo fighting at the sideline.
He’s tired, yes he is, you can tell he’s been fighting till this second and he’s running out of juice. And here it is, this is what we’ve just talked about, so Crespo will be coming off here, Ricardo Cruz will be coming on with NO 20 in blue and this is the final substitution for Argentina. This is an omen for Argentina, The two key players Abbandenzarri and Riquelme have been send off and here’s the frontline)
Julio Ricardo Cruz, 6’3’’, a big striker from Inter Milan, powerful enough to challenge Mertesacker, putting a fresh body into this war with his side taking the lead 1 to nothing on 78th minute.
Only 2 out of Germany’s 10 goals of the World Cup this year came from the late 75th minute and now they are on the 78th min with still nothing in the pocket, but there’s hope, thriving. (Rodríguez)
(Lahm throw-in)
Lahm swings it in, Podolski trying to get the possession, Klose’s still battling here, cleared by Coloccini
Germany continues to play on here, seeking a win. It’s Frings that send it back to Ballack. Borowski tries to give a flicker on but no one’s there. Ballack’s late.
I think Argentina’s playing a dangerous game right now. This is like Argentinean soccer, keep possession on the ball, keep the rhythm of your own. Now they’ve lost control on the ball and no rhythm at all. Odonkor (!), a whirlwind tackle on Sorin, swiftly galvanizing a new round of attack, high cross, a long one, but missed out on the other side of the field.
Ballack out there to collect. Here’s Lahm, to Ballack no defense around, crossing it in, that one flicks and shot in to the back of the net and Germany has tied it!!!!!
Klose strikes again!! For the first time in the World Cup knockout stage!! And it’s header again with his trademark flair and skill and magic!!! Miroslav Klose !! The first player with five or more goals in two consecutive World Cups for Germany!!!!! This is insane!!!
(replay analysis)
Look at that fine combination of the three and look at Argentina -----four defenders on three guys and they just gaped at that cross, the flicker and ultimately the equalizer! This is what we’ve just talked about! Both sides have taken their bet, making some substitutions for the better and Germany is hugely rewarded!! Tim Borowski ! Just 5 minutes to do it all: come to the field ,come to the right place, making an assist to the golden equalizer! Miroslav Borowski! This is a goal of destiny! This is a goal of chemistry! And this is a bet Germany won by Germany!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
